PaperOne™ Digital Carbon Neutral Office Paper launched in Middle East

Leading pulp and paper manufacturer APRIL Group has begun rolling out its new PaperOne™ Digital 80gsm carbon neutral office paper to customers in the Middle East. The company recently held a launch event in Dubai to announce the new product to more than 80 retailers and customers, and to mark the 25th anniversary of the PaperOne™ brand.

Speaking at the event, Frank Huang, Commercial Head, APRIL Group, said: “The new PaperOne™ Digital 80gsm carbon neutral office paper is a sustainable choice for companies looking to reduce their carbon footprint without compromising on quality. The paper is made from sustainable materials and has a net-zero carbon footprint, making it an excellent choice for environmentally conscious businesses.”

“The launch of carbon neutral office paper offering is just the latest stage in our journey as a sustainable, environmentally responsible business. Our PaperOne™ brand has been in existence for 25 years now, and has become a trusted name in the paper industry, sold in over 100 countries around the world, known for high-quality products and our commitment to sustainability”.

“Our focus on sustainability is also aligned with national and regional climate goals, both here in the United Arab Emirates and in the other countries where we operate,” he added.

At the event, APRIL team members also highlighted the depth and scale of the company’s sustainability commitments, which are driven by its Sustainable Forest Management Policy 2.0 (SFMP 2.0) and its long term APRIL2030 targets, while also sharing updates on its flagship forest ecosystem restoration program, Restorasi Ekosistem Riau (RER).

APRIL’s SFMP 2.0 commits the company to no deforestation, no development on peatland, and the protection of high conservation value forests. APRIL2030 is comprised of 18 targets, including net zero emissions from land use, source 90% of mill energy needs from renewables and cleaner energy sources and reducing product carbon emissions intensity by 25%, to be achieved by 2030.

The APRIL2030 targets were designed by the company to be aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and wider industry benchmarks.

Set up in 2013 by APRIL, the RER is one of the largest ecosystem restoration programs in South East Asia. The forest landscapes in the RER area are located on the Kampar Peninsula and Padang Island in Riau Province, Sumatra Indonesia. The RER covers approximately 150,693 ha of previously degraded peat swamp forest, an area about the same size as London.

The forest areas in the RER provide sanctuary to more than 840 plants and wildlife species and support more than 40,000 people living in the surrounding communities.
