Mimaki attends the inaugural FESPA Middle East 2024

Danna Drion, General Manager (Marketing) and Marc Verbeem of Mimaki Europe B.V. had an exclusive conversation with PrintWeek MENA during the FESPA Middle East 2024 event in Dubai. Danna Drion said: “We had a very busy show, a lot of building new relationships with customers and prospects, and it was great to see so much interest in this region for our products and innovations. Being at the event with our partners and distributors allowed us to enrich our partnerships and to work together on this great show, and we’re looking forward to the future.

“Here we basically saw a mix of customers. We also see a movement into more UV, where people say that no more lamination works right away. So that is a trend that we see moving, and as you know, we have a few products for that.

“I think also if you look into the markets, this region is really upcoming. We see a lot of potential, also together, of course made our partners here we have a long heritage already with our distributors, been our new partners. We do a lot of business development here. And that is also the reason why we think from a business point of view, this could be this is not an emerging market anymore, this will become a really established market. We see a lot of potential. If you look into what kind of specific customers of course we see traditional but also banking, investment bankers, and also traditional industry. There's also a trend here we see all we are getting requests on 3D; for instance, there's a big technology hub here developing in Dubai, Saudi Arabia, we see that, and we have the innovations and the machinery for the technology.

“At Mimkai, we are always early adopters. If you look back over the last 20 years, we have always been the first one when it comes to certain technologies. Hey, if we're talking about UV report, talking about 3D, we are always trying to be aiming the number one introducing new technologies. You saw our newest idea about circularity sustainability.

“If you look at sustainability, it's like we discussed before, it's a hot topic. So everybody talks about it. But a lot of times, we don't take enough action yet. People talk about it as a loss. But if you actually come to the local print shop is not really convinced yet that it's going to that he has to do something. Not everybody did. There are companies completely they care about their recycling and stuff like that. But there are still loads of companies that say, oh, throw this away. I don't, I don't really care. So we've tried to give that message to the West and say that it is important that we all have to take our share in everything. Not only the the printing world, also the rest of the rest of all the industries to take a share in the sustainability and become more sustainable.”
