Konica Minolta bizhub i-Series receives Keypoint Intelligen…

The Konica Minolta bizhub i-Series has earned the Security Validation Seal for Device Penetration from Keypoint Intelligence, a leading market research firm and independent evaluator of print and smart technology and services. The evaluation was carried out by security specialists using a combination of automated vulnerability assessment and hands-on manual issue verification. The goal was to identify weaknesses in device firmware, operating system components, web interfaces, ports, protocols, and related network-exposed services. The Device Penetration track of Keypoint Intelligence’s Security Validation Testing program is designed to evaluate whether network-connected printers and MFPs are appropriately protected against likely attack vectors. The assessment includes reconnaissance and network mapping, automated vulnerability scans, manual verification of findings, and targeted exploitation techniques focused on areas such as authentication, session management, unsecure services, exposed protocols, input validation, information leakage, and other device-level weaknesses. Results confirmed that Konica Minolta devices running bizhub i-Series firmware and configured with the recommended settings were well-protected against a wide range of anticipated threats. The Security Validation Device Penetration seal is awarded when no vulnerabilities are deemed High or Critical risk on the Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) scale, with any Medium-risk findings evaluated on a case-by-case basis. “Too often, IT teams focus on PCs, servers, and network infrastructure when evaluating and monitoring for cybersecurity vulnerabilities, but printers and MFPs are also network endpoints that can present meaningful risk,” noted Jamie Bsales, Principal Analyst for Smart Workplace & Security in Keypoint Intelligence’s Workplace Group. “It is incumbent upon OEMs to ensure that their devices have the features to secure the data the printers handle as well as the wider network, and our testing showed that the bizhub i-Series platform demonstrated strong protections against common device penetration threats.” “Security is a core element of our product design and our responsibility towards our customers,” said Torben Mowka, Manager Office Product Management at Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe. “We are proud that the high security level of our bizhub i-Series devices has been confirmed by an independent research and testing organization. The Keypoint Intelligence Security Validation Seal demonstrates that our systems meet high security standards and support organizations in protecting sensitive information within increasingly complex IT environments.” About Keypoint Intelligence For over 60 years, clients in the digital imaging industry have relied on Keypoint Intelligence for independent hands-on testing, lab data, and extensive market research to drive their product and sales success. The Manchester-based large-format print group developed the substrate in partnership with OOH media agency Posterscope and an undisclosed European paper mill. The project was born from a number of Posterscope clients requesting the use of recycled grades in their campaigns, which led the agency to approach MediaCo to investigate the possibilities. Posterscope group innovation director Claire Kimber said that much of the industry would likely assume that recycled products were already available for OOH projects, but this was not the case. “[So,] this development represents an enormous step-change for the out of home industry, in response to demand from advertisers to help meet their social and environmental goals,” she said.
